JOB SUMMARY

Working in cooperation with other TTX departments, develop and deliver online, hands-on, and classroom training to ensure TTX repair network personnel are qualified and capable of carrying out all components of their job responsibilities. Responsible/accountable for providing hands-on and classroom training to TTX Maintenance Operations personnel.  This may include other TTX personnel as required. Responsible/accountable for developing/maintaining training materials in support of all TTX Maintenance Operations business processes. Perform special projects as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from four year college or university preferred
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and Certified Welding Educator (CWE) certification preferred
  • 2+ years of training experience preferred
  • 5+ years of experience working in railroad yards inspecting/repairing railcars
  • 5+ years of experience welding and using a torch
  • Ability to speak effectively in interpersonal situations and with groups of people.  Must enjoy teaching repair procedures and working with students in a classroom or hands-on shop/yard environment. Self-confidence, good public speaking skills, and a talent for making the course materials interesting are essential. They must be patient, observant, and helpful with the wide range of student abilities.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal direct supervision. 
  • High attention to detail and data accuracy. Organized with good follow-through and customer-service orientation
  • Basic knowledge of desktop, laptop, and tablet computer operations is required, including but not limited to operation and use of Microsoft Office, Microsoft SharePoint, Internet Explorer, printing, scanning, email, and general internet usage.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

 

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

General office and outdoor/shop/yard environment with moderate to periodic high noise level; may be required to travel.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to sit (remain stationary within work area) and use hands to finger, handle, feel and reach.  The employee is occasionally required to move about (stand, walk).  The employee must occasionally lift and/or transport up to 25 pounds.  Correctable vision required for close, distance, and color vision capabilities.
